The Five Star Abalone House is located in the quaint fisherman village of Paternoster. It’s proximity of 145km north of Cape Town makes it the perfect getaway. 

Accommodation

Guests can enjoy accommodation in Abalone House’s sumptuous 10 suites, some of which enjoy sea views.

In the guest suites, every creature comfort and business need has also been thought of and catered for. All are luxuriously appointed, air-conditioned and have flat screen televisions and cappuccino/espresso machines, stocked mini-bars, ipod docking stations, CD and DVD players and a digital weather forecast station. The extensive book and DVD libraries are available for the enjoyment of guests, and all suites also have built-in laptop safes.

Facilities

There is a rooftop Jacuzzi, with a panoramic sea view, for the enjoyment of guests. Or one can cool off in the elegant swimming pool, surrounded by a colourful potted garden.

Healing Earth Spa has five therapy rooms. The range of products and treatments are both revolutionary and unique, from crystal and scent therapies, through healing herbs and super-foods, to the more conventional yoga and body massages.

The bar is an eclectic mix of old Africa and new. Warmed in winter by an oversized fireplace, it’s a vibrant central meeting space to relax and socialize. Decadent dinners are served in Reuben’s At Abalone House, under chandeliers and surrounded by opulent appointments. The sea view Orchid Room is the setting for breakfasts and afternoon teas.

Activities in the area

  • Saltwater soaked adventure sports, from surfing, swimming, diving, windsurfing and kayaking to kite surfing.
  • Indulge in long beach walks on beautiful, endless, untouched sandy white beaches.
  • Visit the local fishermen returning with their early morning catch on the beach.
  • Savour the seafood delicacies fresh from the West Coast. Prepare your own meal or visit one of the rustic local restaurants.
  • Whale and Dolphin watching (July – December)
  • The world famous flower season is from August to October and this is the most scenic time of year as wild flowers bloom in their magnificence, transforming the landscape into a breathtaking carpet of floral colours.  The area boasts 1200   species of indigenous plants.
  • Horse riding on the beach.
  • For those chilly winter nights sip a glass of red wine alongside a warm cosy fire as the velvet darkness sets in, listening to the stormy ocean waves crash on the shore.
